Lurid subject matter, fine actors behaving unsanitarily, possibly an indie-crowd-pleasing excoriation of fundamentalist religion. But the film seems to delve into the tropes without the depth of conviction.
This is a very simple film about the most fragile thing. We all have simple human tragedies, mistakes we’ve made, people we’ve hurt, regrets. This is a recognition of commonality in us all.
