The words of Larry David

To mark the DVD release of Woody Allen’s Whatever Works, we’ve put together a list of the top ten quotes from the film’s star, Larry David.

David, 63, the award winning co-creator of Seinfeld, arguably the most successful US television show of all time, became a household when he starred in the critically acclaimed Curb Your Enthusiasm.

The show became a massive hit, with David playing a semi-fictional version of himself, devoid of social awareness and sensitivity, living out his semi-retirement. The show became well known for it’s so called “Larry David Moments”, where Larry seems to constantly find himself in socially awkward situations, through little fault of his own.

So here’s our list of Larry’s best sardonic and ignorant moments from his career in comedy. Enjoy!

“Anyone can be confident with a full head of hair. But a confident bald man – there’s your diamond in the rough.” – personal quote

“Hear the birds? Sometimes I like to pretend that I’m deaf and I try to imagine what it’s like not to be able to hear them. It’s not that bad.” – Curb your Enthusiasm

“Hey, I may loathe myself, but it has nothing to do with the fact that I’m Jewish.” – Curb your Enthusiasm

“It’s very liberating, actually – I don’t have to hear my voice in every character.” – personal quote

“I was planning on my future as a homeless person. I had a really good spot picked out.”  - Curb your Enthusiasm

“I’m a walking, talking enigma” – personal quote (CBS Interview)

“If you tell the truth about how you’re feeling, it becomes funny.” – personal quote (CBS Interview)

“The human race. They’ve had to install automatic toilets in public restrooms, because people can’t be entrusted to flush a toilet.” – Whatever Works

“Trying on pants is one of the most humiliating things a man can suffer that doesn’t involve a woman.” – personal quote

“Love, despite what they tell you, does not conquer all, nor does it even usually last. In the end the romantic aspirations of our youth are reduced to, whatever works.” – Whatever Works
