It’s award season again, and Sunday night saw a memorable 68th Golden Globe Film and Television Awards ceremony in Hollywood.

Not memorable for the actual awards, and there were no drunk celebrities or wardrobe malfunctions, just our very own Ricky Gervais doing what he does best.

The host gave an opening monologue, which managed to insult everyone from Charlie Sheen to alleged homosexual scientologists pretending to be heterosexual.

Gervais notably picked up on the surprise nomination of The Tourist, a film widely panned by critics, joking that the judges must have been bribed….with Cher tickets.

Moving on to the actual awards, the runaway winner was undoubtedly The Social Network, scooping four awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Original Score.

A special mention goes to Colin Firth, who was duly rewarded for his astounding performance in The King’s Speech with the ward for Best Actor.

Fox’s musical phenomenon Glee took home three awards, and HBO’s Martin Scorsese-directed Boardwalk Empire fought off Mad Men for Best Television Drama.
