Blitz is basically 90-plus minutes of ‘bloody’ good, gritty fun masking a familiar storyline, with a pounding soundtrack that, at times, threatens to blast the eardrums.
It is the kind of question that is often bandied about; if you could choose the dream cast for an action film (and you can pick anyone) who would you pick?
It was refreshing to watch a mainstream flick where women were calling the shots, both in front of and behind the camera. A genuinely funny, feel good coming of age film.
Although the genre may already be littered with mockney capers and Danny Dyer b-movies, this new British inner city crime film from first-time director Daniel Barber is a superior offering – albeit a gritty and bleak one.
